The Campus Groups portlet gives users the ability to create and join campus-related organizations of academic, social, or athletic interest. The Campus Groups portlet can reside on any page and in any context to let users quickly see the groups to which they belong. Campus group members can interact with other members via online collaboration tools such as Chat or through file-sharing mechanisms that have been configured on the campus group pages of the portal.
In the example below, the Campus Groups portlet appears on the Campus Life tab.

On the Campus Life tab, click on the Campus Groups header to expand the Campus Groups portlet to fill the screen as follows:

Use the Campus Groups portlet to browse, create, join, and cancel membership to campus groups.
Users can perform the following functions in the Campus Groups portlet:
All new campus groups must be submitted for approval by the Campus Groups administrator prior to it appearing in the Campus Groups listing.
Click on the Create New Campus Group button at the bottom of the main Campus Groups screen to fill out a New Group Application:


In the application above, specify the following for the new Campus Group:
A field with a 100-character limit.
Select the theme of this group.
A free-form field that describes the group.
A free-form reason field.
If left blank, there is no maximum number of members for this campus group.
If you select Private, then this Campus Group will not appear in the Campus Groups Directory.
Open, no application required
Open, by membership application
Membership by invitation only
Closed to new members
Click the Submit Application button at the bottom of the screen when finished.
When you click on the Drop Group hyperlink next to the group that you no longer wish to be a member of, it disappears from the Campus Groups list.
NOTE: If you are the only Leader of a campus group, you can not drop out of it, because every campus group needs at least one Leader.
Click on Browse Groups at the bottom of the main Campus Groups screen to view all of the available campus groups:
To join a Campus Group, click the Join hyperlink next to it. Read about the Campus Group Join portlet.
When a member clicks on a campus group to which he belongs on the Campus Groups portlet, the Main Page for the campus group displays:

When a non-member clicks on a campus group on the Browse Groups page, the Public Page for the campus group displays. The Public Page includes the Campus Group Join portlet:

Currently when you click on the
wrench icon, no preferences, settings, or permission operations
are available for the Campus Groups portlet.
